Joseph Gray’s Daughter Visits Museum


Yesterday we had the great pleasure of meeting Maureen Barclay, the daughter of Joseph Gray who painted the magnificent WW1 scenes which form a key part of our Museum and collection. Maureen who is 96 years old, had never seen the paintings before and was delighted to be able to study her father’s work close up.

Gray was a highly accomplished artist who fought in WW1 with the Black Watch. His work can also be found in the Imperial War Museum, the Black Watch Museum and the McManus Galleries in Dundee. Discover more about his work here:
