A warm welcome from a member of the staff will greet the visitor on entry to the museum.
A brief explanation from one of our volunteers supplemented by a leaflet will cover the journey through the museum. It will also cover the formation of the regiments in 1778 – 72nd Highland Regiment of Foot, 1793 – 78th Highland Regiment of Foot and in 1793 – 79th Highland Regiment of Foot.
These effectively were formed from the Highland Clans, namely MacKenzie (Seaforth) and Cameron (79th Cameron Highlanders) and were recruited from the clan estates. This raised revenue for the clan chief and kept his employees in work. These regiments then formed part of the British Army and became effective fighting troops in foreign fields.
The Museum is not publicly funded and relies on donations from the public. Please give generously. (We would like to suggest a donation of £5.00)
