Collections and Conflicts – Facebook Live Event
May 27 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us as we venture into the world of digital engagement! The Highlanders’ Museum is delighted to announce that our first live online event will be taking place at 2pm on the 27th of May 2021.
Hosted by author, journalist and army reservist Mike Edwards, the event will introduce you to a selection of fascinating objects as our staff and volunteers take you on a virtual wander through the museum with an A to Z of artefacts from the collection. We will also fill you in on some of the exciting projects we have been working on throughout lockdown, including our medal carousel project and our project to recreate a virtual reality World War II POW camp (in partnership with CUPIDO, HIE and The University of St. Andrews).
We also have some wonderful guest speakers lined up who will be presenting live talks with themes covering sport and war, POW escapes, and jobs on the Home Front. Keep an eye on our social media pages over the next few weeks for more information.

110 not out: The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders at the Battle of Loos. @ The Highlanders' Museum
Sep 25 @ 7:00 pm

The museum is about to relaunch hosted talks, centred around various historical topics and events involving the regiments our museum covers.

As part of this relaunch, our first talk is later this month centred around the role of the New Army Battalions, mainly 5th, 6th and 7th Camerons during the Battle of Loos in WW1, in honour of the 110th anniversary of the Battle on 25th September 2025.

The talk is going to be held here at Fort George in the regimental chapel. Come join us at the Highlander’s Museum, Fort George, for a special event honouring the brave soldiers of the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders on the 110th anniversary of the WW1 Battle of Loos.

Join WW1 expert Mike Taylor for a talk on the baptism of fire for the New Army Battalions of the Camerons, gain a better understanding of their experiences and learn about the German artillery gun they captured which is today held by the Clan Cameron Museum in Lochaber.

Kind Regards
