Before the refurbishment of the museum the medals were painstakingly and accurately mounted and displayed and we wanted to bring the majority of the medals into one area on the ground floor for viewing by all visitors including those unable to climb the stairs. We wished to keep the medals of those brave veterans easily accessible in a similar way to the original display

To achieve this, over the last 4 years, Bob Towns and his team have been creating a medal carousel and touch screen medal finder which shows veteran’s names, a photo of the medal array, and a summary of what the medals were awarded for.  We built in the capability to add a photograph of the veteran and now we are looking for photographs that may be held by descendants.  The list of names in the PDF (Medal Carousel List link below) has details of current data we hold and there are some service numbers missing.  If you recognise any of the data on the veteran and have a photograph we would ask you to send it to us either by email to medals@thehighlandersmuseum.com or post it to FAO Bob Towns, c/o The Highlanders Museum, Fort George, Ardersier, IV2 7TD.  If known, please ensure that you give as much information as possible, the Row Number (first column), Acc No (Col F), Service Number (Col B), Rank (Col C), Name (Col D) and Inits (Col E)  on the reverse of the photo or in the body of the email with the photo.  If some data is missing please add it, for example Service Number or Regiment.
